Fragrance Review – Arabic Aurum Ajmal

3rd March 2018

When I visited the duty free section at Abu Dhabi airport at the end of 2017 I was intrigued by a particular perfume. That perfume was Aurum Ajmal. I was drawn in by the stunning looking bottle. All gold with gold covered dried flowers in the transparent top section. I’ve long been a fan of Arabic perfumes with their oud-based fragrances and this one didn’t disappoint.

First thing I noticed was how luxurious the bottle looks and feels. It is quite a heavy container  and it isn’t made from glass unlike most other fragrances I’ve tried. The gold appearnce gives it an air of sophistication.

Aurum Ajmal for women. Aurum by Ajmal is a Floral Fruity fragrance for women. Aurum was launched in 2011. Top notes are lemon and raspberry; middle notes are orange blossom, gardenia, jasmine, spicy notes and fruity notes; base notes are amber, musk, vanilla, woody notes and powdery notes.

This perfume opens up with raspberry and a small hint of vanilla. Once the vanilla fades it’s replaced by sharp notes of gardenia and jasmine. The sharp note fades and is replaced by a very subtle lemon note with a bit of a touch of the musk and amber. The raspberries also fade slightly but happily stick around. This stage of the scent dispersal lasted for around an hour on my skin. Next the lemon disappears and is replaced by the floral tones of jasmine and gardenia. The floral note builds in strength, the raspberry loses strength and the musk and amber continues to be detected, the fruity notes become more noticeable at this stage.

After about 3 hours the fragrance reaches its final phase. A subtle fruity floral with the powdery and woody notes in the base coupled with the amber which has an oud-like quality.

It’s a magnificent fragrance, smells divine and it is definitely an all-day fragrance. On me it lasted around 6-7 hours without re-application.

I’ve not heard of this brand before but I love the sound and look of them. If packaging was all I had to go on I’d already be sold!

How luxurious is that bottle!! I love the gold petals in the top half too, it’s so gorgeous. It sounds like my ideal fragrance as well. Floral but not overly sweet since it has citrus and amber notes. I’m going to have to keep an eye out for this next time I’m in duty free as I really want to try it. xx

This looks glorious! Such a unique idea to have the dried flowers at the top of the bottle. And so exciting that you went to Abu Dhabi, I’d love to read about that! Great post x

Ohhhh this bottle looks soooo pretty! I love perfume, but it’s one of those things I never invest in myself. I always wait until it’s my birthday or Christmas and pop it on my wishlist. Great review, I’d love to smell this! xx
